Vilac Int. students visit NDPC
A group of selected students from Vilac International School at Achimota in Accra has visited the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to learn about the activities of the Commission.
The visit was also to help the students to be abreast of the nation’s development plans so as to be able to fit into the plan as they grow into adults.
Briefing the students about the country’s 40-year National Development Plan, Dr. Thompson explained that the plan is a well thought out plan to consciously build the country into a modern and well developed society.
He explained the various phases of the plan and how it would be executed through a series of major infrastructure and developmental projects over the period.
“We want to envision and build the type of future we want for ourselves and our children,” Dr. Thompson added.
To ensure that all Ghanaians were well informed about the plan so as to actively participate in its implementation, he said the Commission has embarked on a nationwide awareness creation programme to engage various sections of the citizens, including students, about the plan.
“Since children are the future and the ones to see to the completion of the plan, there is the need for them to be abreast of the plan, so they carry the mantle of executing the plan to the letter,” he said.
Ms. Eunice Adjei-Wiredu, Principal of the School, in her remarks, indicated that the school deemed it necessary to educate the students about the nation’s development agenda so as to assure them about the future.
That, she said, would also help to enrich their knowledge about their country, adding that it would also help to improve their studies.
